Sara Granshaw

Print Profile

Called: 1991

Sara was educated at Oxford and has specialised in family law since 1991 when she was called to the Bar and became a member of Harcourt Chambers.

Sara has a wide family practice encompassing financial cases as well as private law and public law children cases.

In matrimonial finance, she is sensitive to the individual needs of clients in both large asset cases and cases in which the assets are insufficient adequately to meet the parties’ needs on divorce. She also represents third parties in ancillary relief cases and is instructed in Schedule 1 Children Act 1989 applications for financial provision for children.

In public law children cases and adoption applications, Sara represents all parties, whether it be parents, extended family, local authorities, guardians, prospective adopters, children, or police authorities. She has considerable experience in complex care proceedings involving serious allegations of abuse, parents with significant disabilities, and complex medical evidence, particularly in the area of unexplained bone fractures and associated bone disorders. She has represented key parties in High Court hearings lasting several weeks.

In all her cases Sara’s approachable but firm manner enables her to seek a good outcome for her client by negotiation wherever possible. If a court hearing is unavoidable, she is a forceful and persuasive advocate.
