Practice Profile

Annie joined Chambers in 2012 following successful completion of pupillage.  She studied Law at the University of Exeter before completing the Bar Vocational Course at the College of Law, London Bloomsbury.

Prior to pupillage Annie worked as a legal adviser at the Citizens Advice Bureau and with the charity, Families Need Fathers.  She was a McKenzie Friend prior to the changes in the law and later spent a year working at an international law firm dealing with RTA cases.

Annie’s practice includes all areas of family law and she has appeared in the FPC, County and High Court at all hearings from First Appointment to Appeal.

Annie has undertaken a wide range of care cases for numerous Local Authorities, parents, children, grandparents and interveners including those with an international element.  She is keen to represent all parties and is able to understand and anticipate the position of each party as a result of a balanced practice.  Annie will give robust advice about the merits of a case where necessary but does not shy away from a contest.

Annie is an affiliate member of Resolution and takes a conciliatory approach to both private law children and financial disputes.  She is keen to encourage all steps to be taken to reach agreement where appropriate and will regularly try to instigate ‘round table’ meetings if it is to the client’s benefit.

Annie has experience of dealing with cases with a full range of issues including mental and physical abuse, substance abuse, mental health and personality disorder issues.  She is particularly interested in expanding her practice of working with vulnerable clients.

Annie is regularly instructed in Family Law Act 1996 and all Section 8 Children Act 1989 applications, often on an ex parte basis.  She also has considerable experience of cases involving litigants-in-person from her time as a McKenzie Friend prior to joining Chambers.

Outside of work Annie enjoys going to the gym, eating out and baking!
