David practises in all aspects of private family law, with particular focus on the financial aspects of divorce and relationship breakdown.

He has represented clients at all levels of the Family Court and as a junior in the Supreme Court.
He has substantial experience of acting for high net worth clients in financial remedy proceeding in cases involving in excess of £15 million worth of assets, family companies, inherited assets, and cases with an international element. David writes on the law of nuptial agreements for the Practical Law Company (Thomson Reuters).

In addition to his court practice, David has wide experience of drafting nuptial agreements, opinions, skeleton arguments and pleadings.

David is frequently instructed in both private and court-based FDR appointments and mediations and combines robust advocacy with outcome focussed negotiations in the best interests of clients.

David has considerable experience of acting for spouses and civil partners in financial remedy applications and under Schedule 1 to the Children Act 1989. David also has experience of disputes between spouses and third parties as to the ownership of family assets within financial remedy proceedings and between cohabitants under TOLATA.

David has significant experience of acting for local authorities, parents and children’s guardians.

Judgment in care proceedings considering whether child should be adopted by foster carers, or remain with them under a long-term fostering arrangement or a SGO.


Gloucester County Council v a Mother & Ors [2024] EWFC 38 (B)

Judgment concerning future of child who had been in care for nearly two years. Child to remain with foster parents under special guardianship order.


Re A (care - judgment on appeal) [2023] EWFC 84

Appeal by local authority against dismissal of application for a care order. Appeal dismissed.


Re C (Long term foster care or adoption) [2017] EWFC B74 (on behalf of the child)

In the matter of A (Children) (AP) [2013] UKSC 60 reported as: A v A [2013] 1 W.L.R. 761;

The Times 15 October 2013 (with Henry Setright QC and Edward Devereux for the father) concerning the ambit of the wardship jurisdiction in proceedings concerning the international abduction of children.

David is qualified to accept instructions directly from members of the public under the Direct Access Scheme in appropriate circumstances.
