Michael originally studied Modern and Medieval Languages at Cambridge and pursued a career in business before becoming a barrister.


Michael speaks Spanish, Catalan and French.


He combines a practice in Financial Remedies (Matrimonial Finance / Schedule 1 Children Act 1989) and Trusts of Land (ToLATA) disputes arising between cohabiting couples, family members and friends.


His practice in Matrimonial Finance – where he regularly represents interveners – often involve overseas assets, companies and family trusts. His Trust of Land matters often include Probate and Inheritance Act claims.


Michael has represented clients at all levels from the First Tier Tribunal (Property Chamber), the Family and County Court, to the High Court and Court of Appeal.


He also practises as a mediator in Property, Trusts of Land, Inheritance Act and Probate disputes and regularly lectures in all areas of his practice.


Michael is known for his meticulous preparation and robust advocacy. He is a skilled negotiator whose creative approach is informed by his mediation practice and commercial experience.


He accepts instructions on a direct public access basis.


Michael has recently been appointed as a Deputy District Judge (Civil / Family) on the South Eastern Circuit.
