Collaborative Law at Harcourt Chambers

12th April 2011

In partnership with Resolution, 14 members of Harcourt Chambers have now been trained as collaborative counsel and are available to act either as jointly instructed experts or where both clients would benefit from the use of counsel.

The collaborative family law process is a relatively new way of dealing with family disputes that aims to resolve them without going to court. It involves each client appointing their own lawyer, not to conduct litigation but to work collaboratively towards a consensual outcome. Counsel may be brought in to assist the process.

For more information about collaborative law, please go to the Resolution website ( or see chapter 4 of ‘Contact: The New Deal’ (Pressdee, Vater, Judd & Baker – Family Law, 2006).
