Our children law team is led by Nick Goodwin QC, supported by John Vater QC, Damian Garrido QC, Aidan Vine QC, Edward Devereux QC and 49 juniors.  Our members practise across London, the South-East, the Midlands and in the West and are regularly to be found in high profile and legally important cases at first instance, appellate level, the Supreme Court and the European Court of Justice.


Various members are qualified mediators and arbitrators who are available to undertake mediation/arbitration work in all areas of children law but particularly with reference to contact and child maintenance.


We have a leading reputation, both nationally and internationally, for providing high quality representation and advice in Child Law, Child Abduction, International and Private Child Law. We also have an excellent national reputation in Public Law.


Our children law team comprises two Deputy High Court Judges, a former family law junior barrister of the year at the Chambers UK Bar Awards, two former young family law barristers of the year at the Family Law Awards, 11 barristers ranked in the Chambers UK Bar Guide and/or the Legal 500 and two distinguished academics:


Rob George DPhil Family Law, Lincoln College, Oxford, has published numerous books and papers on family law issues. His most recent book is “Relocation: A Practical Guide” which was co-authored by our former head of chambers Dame Frances Judd QC and Damian Garrido QC. His most recent article is “Legal Professionals’ Knowledge and Experience of Autistic Adults in the Family Justice System” (2018), Journal of Social Welfare and Family Law.


Dr Claire Fenton-Glynn is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Cambridge. She is a leading expert on international family law, with a particular focus on human rights and the cross-border movement of children. She has written extensively on intercountry adoption, international and domestic surrogacy, and the protection of children’s rights before the European Court of Human Rights. Her book “Children’s Rights in Intercountry Adoption: A European Perspective” won the Inner Temple Book Prize (New Author) 2015.


Other members of chambers also contribute to leading practitioner works and lecture regularly about topical children law issues and are prominent in both the Family Law Bar Association and the Association of Lawyers for Children.
