On 22 July 2025 Harcourt celebrated Garrido J’s Call to the Bench at Middle Temple

23rd Jul 2025 | News

As one of the four Inns of Court, Middle Temple exists to promote and support the Rule of Law and to ensure the fair administration of justice. It achieves this by providing training in advocacy and professional ethics, academic lectures and events, and a supportive community of skilled barristers. In doing so, it promotes a strong, independent Bar.

Masters of the Bench are responsible for governance of the Inn and their Call reflects their seniority, excellence and commitment to Middle Temple. Garrido J’s Call is a reflection of his extraordinary professional achievements, including his role as contributing editor of The Family Court Practice and his appointment to the High Court in 2024.

Garrido J’s speech acknowledged the importance of life within and beyond the Inn, paying tribute to his family, friends, colleagues at Harcourt, and staff at Middle Temple. But it is also important to recognise Garrido J’s own role in promoting academic excellence at the Bar, the careers of junior barristers, resilience and integrity. His Call is a well-deserved achievement. Congratulations from us all.
