The International Family Law Team at Harcourt provides specialist advice in relation to securing the return of children wrongfully removed from the United Kingdom and taken to another jurisdiction (sometime referred to as applications for “chasing orders”).

The case law in relation to when it is appropriate to make an application for summary return in this context has been the subject of considerable evolution in recent years and our members are highly experienced in such cases and are able to advise on the strategy and approach to be taken at the outset of proceedings.

We can provide highly specialist advice in respect of removals to countries with are signatories to the Brussels II Regulation, 1980 Hague Abduction Convention, the 1996 Hague Convention on the Protection of Children and the 1980 European Custody Convention, and also jurisdictions which are not signatories to these conventions.

For help and advice please contact our clerks.

Our clerking team is renowned for its friendly and pro-active approach.
