Andrew Leong acted for a local authority in Local Authority v Mother & Ors [2024] EWFC 158 (B); Care proceedings concerning one year-old child, issued following concerns over the impact of the mother’s mental health issues upon her ability to care for the child.

The mother had a history of significant emotional, sexual and physical abuse and had been diagnosed with PTSD and emotionally unstable personality disorder. The court concluded that the mother’s mental health challenges posed a risk of significant emotional harm to her child. The court granted a placement order with a plan for adoption.
