Hannah Windmill

Hannah read Social & Political Science at the University of Cambridge and was called to the Bar in 2016. She joined Harcourt following the successful completion of pupillage in 2017.

Hannah is a specialist family barrister with a wide-ranging practice, including an important role in an ongoing inquiry. She is a meticulous and skilled advocate, always sensitive to the needs of her clients.

Prior to commencing pupillage, Hannah worked for children’s legal charities and with young offenders.

Hannah is currently part of the counsel team to the Dame Linda Dobbs Review, considering Lloyds Banking Group’s handling of the HBOS Reading fraud. Whilst maintaining a specialist family practice, Hannah is enjoying the opportunity to expand her horizons and work with highly regarded barristers who are leaders in a number of different fields.

Practice Areas

Hannah has a strong private law children practice, including cases with an international element and those involving intractable disputes, alienation and serious allegations of abuse.

Hannah deals with all matters in the public law sphere. She has experience of working with vulnerable clients in cases involving domestic violence, complex mental health issues, addiction and self-harm. Hannah enjoys representing grandparents in both public and private law cases of particular sensitivity, including the death of a parent or a parent being unable to care.

Hannah deals with all matters relating to the international movement of children, including child abduction and relocation. She also has experience of cases of forced marriage.
