Rosie Shouler-Harris joined Harcourt Chambers as a pupil in October 2024. Her pupillage was supervised by Vicky Reynolds, Prof Rob George and Matthew Stott.

Prior to pupillage, Rosie worked as an Early Help Independent Domestic Violence Advocate. She is experienced in supporting individuals and families facing care proceedings and private children’s proceedings, domestic abuse, rape and sexual abuse and emotional abuse.

Rosie originally studied Human Rights at The London School of Economics before converting to law. During her postgraduate and legal studies, Rosie volunteered as a legal researcher at a human rights non-governmental organisation and assisted with the drafting of an application to the ECtHR regarding breaches of Article 8, 13 and 14 of the convention.

Rosie previously volunteered as a mental health crisis volunteer for a charity.

Testimonials

'I just wanted to write to tell you that I was against Harcourt’s pupil, Rosie, yesterday and I thought she did a really excellent job in what is quite a complex case. She was representing the LA and whilst it was a CMH, it was actually really tricky. She told me after the case that it was in fact her first care case, but I really would not have guessed. She was extremely organised, calm and structured and I could see that her social work team were really impressed too. Her manner both inside and outside of the Court room was measured and thoughtful and the way she dealt with difficult points in our pre hearing discussions was also really impressive.'
Member of the Bar

'I have to say Rosie was nothing short of outstanding yesterday. She is incredibly switched on, didn’t miss a single detail. Picked up on things others I know wouldn’t and brought those to the attention of the magistrates at the right time. Quite a unique skill. She deserves an award even for just speaking to B about the home education, who I know can be somewhat scary. She was incredibly confident and this was justified by her exceptional ability. I also want to say that Rosie even walked me to my car as I got nervous when B’s fiancé came in. I was truly touched.'
Client

'She was great with communication, very thorough and was great with the client, they have provided me with good feedback following the hearings and she provides detailed attendance notes in a timely manner. She followed my brief and also offered some additional advice if needed which was greatly appreciated, especially if it meant a good outcome for my client. Rosie is really prompt with her communication if I need to speak to her before the hearing or just needed to have a chat to her about the case in general if the client is particularly difficult. What I did like is that when preparing a PS she didn’t just copy and paste my brief which is something I experience at times with some people. She read it and formulated a PS in her words in line with my instructions. I have no complaints and would definitely instruct her again.'
Instructing Solicitor

'I am very impressed with Rosie and my client was also very impressed and pleased with the outcome of the hearing. Rosie communicated very well with both myself and the client and I would not hesitate to instruct her again.'
Instructing Solicitor

'I was really impressed with Rosie. She came across as well organised and clearly she knew what she was doing based on the correspondence we had. As a result I view her as a safe pair of hands and I would definitely instruct her again. Essentially she did everything required with no hiccups.'
