Mavis Amonoo-Acquah instructed by the Local Authority in GK & Anor v EE & Anor [2023] EWCOP 49

11th Dec 2023 | Cases

Mavis was instructed by the Local Authority to represent the second respondent in GK & Anor v EE (formerly known as RK) & Anor – Find case law (nationalarchives.gov.uk)

This was a case before MacDonald J. The parents of a non-binary young person who was accommodated by the Local Authority, sought orders under both the Inherent Jurisdiction of the High Court and the Court of Protection, to prevent the young person from undergoing any gender affirming medical treatment. The application was opposed by the young person and the Local Authority, and was eventually dismissed by the court.
