Nick Goodwin KC and Elisabeth Wickham in CC (Fact Finding: Head Injury) [2024] EWFC 317 (B)

13th Jan 2025 | Cases

Nick Goodwin KC and Elisabeth Wickham, instructed by Fort Solicitors, represented a father facing allegations of causing inflicted head injury to his infant son in CC (Fact Finding: Head Injury) [2024] EWFC 317 (B).  The court heard from multiple experts as to the possibility that the intracranial bleeding and skull fractures seen on CT/MRI were caused at the time of the child’s birth.  There was a particular focus on the nature of the child’s clinical symptoms in an attempt to pinpoint the timing of the various injuries. Unusually the mother had informed the police that her older children might conceivably have injured the baby.  This too required careful assessment during the course of cross-examination.
