James Turner in Re U (A Child: Deprivation of Liberty) [2024] EWHC 228 (Fam)

James, instructed by Bastian Lloyd Morris, represented the First Respondent in Re U (A Child: Deprivation of Liberty) [2024] EWHC 228 (Fam) an application for a deprivation of liberty order (DoLS) which arose during  Re UDTQ (No Adequate Care Planning) [2024] EWFC 19 (B) when it was discovered that a seven year old boy was being physically restrained whilst in a local authority residential placement. The court proceeded to hear a DoLS application in respect of the child and the application was granted notwithstanding the child’s extreme youth.

This application and judgment was reported in Local Government Lawyer.
