Harcourt Chambers invites applications for a Probationary Tenancy starting in October 2025 at our London premises at 2 Harcourt Buildings, Temple, EC4Y 9DB.

We have one vacancy available, and are particularly interested in applicants who have a strong interest in family finance work, although the successful candidate will undertake work across all areas of family law.

Key Information:

  • Start Date: October 2025
  • Length of Tenancy: 6 months
  • Level of Guaranteed Earnings: £12,102 (Probationary tenants can expect to earn significantly more in practice)
  • Closing Date for Applications: 11 August 2025
  • Interview Notifications: Candidates will be notified by 18 August 2025
  • Interviews: Likely to be held during the last two weeks of August 2025

How to Apply:

Applications should be sent by email to mmolloy@harcourtchambers.co.uk and must include:

  • A covering letter addressing:
    • Why you are seeking a probationary tenancy at Harcourt
    • Why you are interested in a finance practice
    • An example of when you demonstrated good advocacy skills
    • An example of when you demonstrated good client care
  • A CV including:
    • Academic record from A-level (or equivalent) onward
    • Legal and non-legal work experience
    • Voluntary work prior to pupillage
    • Details of pupillage work to date, including any talks, webinars, research, or writing
  • A sample of written work (no more than 4 pages, suitably anonymised)

If selected for interview, you will be asked to provide two references, one of which should be from a former pupil supervisor.
