Louise’s practice has encompassed all aspects of family law, and her primary specialism is in financial cases.
Louise is popular and robust, with a good track record in negotiated outcomes as well as fully contested litigation. Combining a fast and secure grasp of detail with a pragmatic approach, Louise brings clear focus to the strategy in a case, her aim being always to create the conditions for an optimal solution.
She represents clients in all financial brackets, where her experience is needed to deal with complex circumstances, deploying her extensive experience of all types of financial asset and employment/income models, including where there is an international element. While a proportion of her case-load now involves higher net worth individuals, Louise’s practice has always served clients across a varied range of net-worth bases.
Louise will occasionally undertake the private law children aspects of financial remedy cases in which she is instructed, and she retains a small public law children practice.

Louise’s length and breadth of financial remedy specialism leads her to be expert across an extremely wide range of issues that may arise in matrimonial finance cases and cases involving financial provision for children. Many of her cases feature issues relating to companies, whether large or small, and pensions, where a sound facility with accountancy and tax matters compliments any expert evidence in the case, where there is a need to balance commercial viability with the issues specific to personal litigation. Adept at articulating complex circumstances through effective advocacy, whether in writing or orally, Louise’s expertise also serves a private FDR and arbitration practice.
Louise acted for the applicant, in proceedings to set aside a decree absolute of divorce obtained without notice to the wife in 2010, turning on the facts as to whether she was served with the divorce petition and whether her signature had been forged on the acknowledgement of service.
Evidence ranged over multiple allegations including a decade of property transactions, involving 9 witnesses (including expert) over 8 days in contested fact finding hearing, leading to judgment in favour of the wife and the setting aside of the decrees.

Alternative Dispute Resolution
Louise’s arbitration qualification dates from 2018, and she is a strong proponent of the value of early intervention and resolution as tending to promote a reduction in the strain and cost of extended contested proceedings, and of the particular benefits of arbitration providing the parties with a stronger sense of ownership of the process. Louise can be instructed as an arbitrator as well as representing a party to an arbitration.
Louise is qualified to accept instructions directly from members of the public under the Direct Access Scheme in appropriate circumstances.
